Safety Tips For Women
July 11, 2016
This world is filled with violence and wrong-doings. Any woman may feel unsafe when walking alone on the street late at night. The number of crimes against women is increasing. There can be attackers out there to get you so it is your duty to be equipped, ready to strike back if some kind of forceful act is attempted on you. Here are a few safety tips every woman should keep in mind.
There is no use in preaching about self-defense techniques if you have no idea what got you into that situation in the first place. It is, lack of awareness of the surroundings you move about in. If you keep a good eye on your environment you may be able to avoid many harmful circumstances. Element of surprise is a tool used by robbers or molesters. When you are surprised, you get too excited and lose your thinking power and this is taken as an advantage. If you were aware of your environment, this surprise factor can be avoided.
2. Use your sixth sense
At times, you have that little voice in your head telling you not to do a particular thing. This is your sixth sense, instinct or your gut feeling. This intuition can be a powerful tool you’ve got. Most women have it but only a few actually pay attention to it. However, if you listen to it and avoid any situation just because it does not ‘feel safe’, you are most probably right.
3. Self-defense training
It is important that you get a proper training of self defense. However, you should keep in mind that you should join a Karate or Muay Thai lessons class only if you are willing to commit yourself for a long-term training. If not, there is no point of joining them, going for a few classes and stopping. Instead, there are academies that have short term programmes including only the necessary stunts for self-defense. Also, make sure that whatever course you are joining has realistic, practical training since if you do not know how to apply it, there is no use.
Escape is your best option. If the attacker is asking you to come with him to an alley or a vehicle, you should never leave the initial crime scene. There is a high possibility that you will be killed or badly injured if you go with him. No matter how well you’ve learned your moves at Muay Thai lessons in Singapore, it is always better to run away. If running away is difficult, scream, throw a rock at a store or car or do anything to attract attention. If the attacker is after your purse, throw it away while you run the other way.
5. Fight back
Most women feel scared to fight back. However you should always physically defend yourself even if the attacker hasn’t struck first. Put those Karate lessons into use and strike fast since the element of surprise can discourage your attacker. Aim for the eyes first and groin second.
These simple tips can be of great help at any difficult situation you are in.
